About
You’ve Got Mail
The very first version of what become known as email was sent 1965 at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as part of the university’s Compatible Time-Sharing System, which allowed users to share files and messages. Ray Tomlinson literally put the “@” in email.
Since that time, the email was evolving and expending, throughout all areas and fields, taking massive swings in its life. The opportunities were becoming significant, the space unrestricted, new email applications became part of every business. The email concept became a very fast, cheap, and affordable media of communications everywhere.
Throughout the 90ies the Internet providers linked their emails services, paving the way for modern, overloaded email systems we see today. AOL started in 1993, followed by Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail in 2004. In 1994 was recorded the first business spam by two Phoenix lawyers, and since, the volume of emails on the Internet was growing and growing, hitting over 90% of all the Internet traffic. The Spam Wild West was born with all new security breaching technologies.

Professional vs. Free eMail
Are you using @gmail.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, @yahoo.com, or any other free non-business email address by your or other Internet service provider like @eircom.ie? Does your email address mirrors the name of your business? Have you heard about Hilary Clinton’s email scandal, in which the former Secretary of State used her personal email account for work-related purposes? As a small business in EU, have you heard about GDPR and their data and privacy protections? Is your business related to dealing with people’s or financial sensitive information?
A professional business email address helps earning customer’s trust as a legitimate business, stamping reliability and trust onto your business communications and profile. Sending emails with your own business name promotes your brand with each email you send, creating your unique professional image and look. It creates a sense of trust, especially if it is the part of your website. This will boost your company’s potential to attract new customers.
Choice
What eMail Should I Use for Business?
With over 20 years of testing, managing and supporting users with versatile email services, when comes to a choice which mail platform to go for – the highest recommendation is Microsoft Office 365 (O365).
Either we are looking at business or personal requirements, Microsoft O365 offers a variety of pre-tailored packages, fitting everyone’s budget. It is for sure most user-friendly platform with all essential features to server any kind of business or private demands. It does not stop here as it is ideal choice for any academic or charity organisations with free or special-price fees. Google’s GSuite is the closest competitor, but not even close to recommend it. Both provide similar email functionalities, file spaces for business or private needs, or some other features. However, in our opinion the perception and more natural logic for users is closer in the Microsoft O365.
The pre-tailored O365 packages are packed with different features, allowing additional tailoring with add-ons. They are a perfect fit for any kind and size of business, cost-effective by eliminating any other unnecessary or unused features. The entire platform is hosted in a highly secure Microsoft environment, and with close to 400 million end users worldwide, it is another hidden gem in securing messaging from a technical point of view. Another major difference between Google GSuite and Microsoft O365 is that the first is only Cloud solution vs. the latter, which equally can run in the Cloud or on-premises. It does support hybrid configuration allowing businesses to host mailboxes in either environment at the same time, including support of pre-existing on-prem Active Directory configuration. Microsoft O365 packages allow installation of Microsoft applications onto 5 mobile devices, and 5 PCs, reducing further the effective cost of ownership for business. Mailbox is per license but shared mailboxes can be unlimited, as many as needed. This is handy having an info@ or sales@, or any other email address without additional license, allowing multiple members of a team to access it. Overall, all in all, the cost advantage is also on the Microsoft O365 side.
For the above-mentioned advantages, Fellatech partnered with Microsoft and can officially support your demands when comes to messaging, either in your on-prem and/or from mobile devices.
